<image:title>Testimonials - “I’m a long-time client of Bryan and Carter Sport Therapy. I have weekly appointments to address short-term issues as well care to help me perform “at the top of my game.” A never-ending crick in my neck prompted me to schedule my first visit. After that, it became relief from long and short distance running stress. Now, Carter Sport Therapy prepares me for running, CrossFit, Spartan racing, etc., as well as the after effects from these events. I highly recommend them as a resource to help you perform at your best!”</image:title>

<image:title>Testimonials - “I highly recommend Bryan and the staff at Carter Sport Therapy. I was referred to Bryan from a friend to help with chronic back aches over 5 years ago. I live a very busy life as an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, mom, and distance runner with Knoxville Endurance. He always finds time to work me in or have another of his staff help if he is unavailable. Not only has Bryan helped with the back aches, but he has also helped with every possible running injury and contorted neck and back position from my job. I’m in the best shape of my life and running my 4th Boston Marathon this spring!”</image:title>

<image:title>Testimonials - “Bryan is a legend. I’ve been seeing him for about 5 years now. I went to him after two years struggling with back pain and nerve pain. After two cortisone shots and no relief Bryan fixed me and got me back playing. I’ve been coming for maintenance and for any pain I may have and couldn’t be happier. Not only does he have a great personality but he really knows what he’s doing. Every time I’m in town I make sure to get an appointment. The best in the business hands down.”</image:title>

Bryan was able to work out my many trigger points and get all my muscles gliding smoothly again, making me fell more flexible, fluid, energized, and feeling 5-10 years younger. Bryan and the rest of the staff at Carter Sport Therapy are Grade-A pros who know their stuff, as you’ll quickly see from the many pictures of current and past UT, local, and pro athletes who have thanked them for past services. If you need to get game/race/event ready or just feel better doing your sport, definitely schedule a visit.”</image:title>

<image:caption>As a former Olympic Taekwondo competitor, trainer, coach, and school owner, I found myself wanting to help my competitors, as well as their families find relief from years of pain and injuries. I had also struggled with injuries and overall soreness from years of sports and competitions. In 2003, I started massage therapy school at the Center of Rehabilitative Education (CORE) where the focus was myofascial integration and structural body work. For the past 18 years, I’ve been blessed to be able to help others get back to an active lifestyle or start the active life they want. I’ve worked with clients of all ages, from a 3-month-old newborn to an 90-year-old ballroom dancer. I’ve also worked with middle and high school students, professional athletes, Olympians and most recently one of the biggest Rock bands in the world. Now, with the help of some of the BEST and most qualified and licensed massage therapists around, we can reach more people in Knoxville and all of East Tennessee have a more happy, and pain-free life doing what they love.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Before starting massage school in 2015, I completed 3 semesters of nursing school. After working 6 years in the hospital, I took a break because I wasn’t sure if nursing was my passion anymore. I took a semester off and a friend of mine introduced me to massage, so I decided to take the class. I ended up falling in love with it. I joined Carter Sport Therapy because we share the same goals. I want to be able to help clients with pain or injury and to help people realize their full potential in their sport or activity—and if I have any of my clients that are struggling with life, I hope that I can help them work through that as well. Now as I explore bodybuilding and I do the work to reach my goals, I am trying to reach out to other bodybuilders on their way to competing. Bodybuilding pushes your muscles to their limits and proper care can make a huge difference in growth and healing. Not only that, if you have tight muscles, it can completely throw off your posing. I can help release those muscles so you can have a more complete look before your show.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I came to see Bryan in 2009 when I started doing CrossFit and needed help with my shoulder. I was amazed at how this work helped me not only get over that injury but also kept me injury free for the next several years. I’ve always been an athlete. I’ve done half marathons, three full marathons, and been a swimming instructor. In 2014, I received my level 1 Crossfit certification and in 2015 I received my Olympic lifting certification. As a wife and a mother of three children that I home school, I didn't think I had time to do anything else, but with my family’s encouragement and support I got my LMT license in 2017 and now am able to give others the hope of living an active and fulfilling life.</image:caption>

<image:caption>After a lifelong fascination with science and the love of helping people, I started my career as a massage therapist 20 years ago. I worked in a massage clinic on the Northern Beaches of Sydney as well as doing mobile treatments for friends and family. It is the largest and longest running massage clinic in the area. In 2015 I purchased the clinic and managed it for 5 years before moving to the US. With the help of an amazing team, I continue to run it remotely. No single approach is right for each individual and my pursuit to know why my clients had dysfunction in their body, led me to study Anatomy Trains Structural Integration in 2015. Structural Bodywork has enabled me to determine the source of pain and restriction more effectively in my clients. The objective is to create freedom and ease in their bodies so they are able to build balanced strength. While Bryan was on tour with a rock band, he contacted my teacher at Anatomy Trains and asked for a recommendation for a massage therapist while he was in Sydney. From the moment we met, Bryan and I became great friends. I discovered his clinic was similar to mine and happened to be where my husband previously lived for many years. We had always wanted to moved back to Knoxville so Bryan didn’t have to try very hard to convince me to join his clinic. I am blessed to finally be here and working with such an amazing team at Carter Sport Therapy.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I first came to Carter Sport Therapy as a client in 2021 with significant pain, numbness, and loss of mobility in my left foot following multiple surgeries. As an avid hiker, I was frustrated by the lack of post-surgical care and unsure how to get back on my feet. A friend recommended Carter Sport Therapy and after a half dozen sessions I woke up one morning and could wiggle my toes again! Since then, I have returned to hiking, backpacking, and other outdoor activities. Based on the pain relief and increased mobility experienced through massage, I became interested in becoming a massage therapist to help others. Life shouldn’t come to a halt due to injury, pain, or muscle/joint stiffness, and I firmly believe that the therapeutic massage I received from Carter Sport Therapy gave me my life back. After working as an environmental engineer for the past 20 years, I am excited for a second career as a massage therapist. I enjoy working with clients of all ages, especially those recovering from surgery or otherwise trying to stay active. One of the great satisfactions I have enjoyed from working at Carter Sport Therapy is helping others relax, recover, and return to activity. Outside of work I love to hike, read, and spend time with my family and wonderful dog, Pepper.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I first came to Carter Sport Therapy three years ago after suffering from chronic shoulder and neck pain with little relief. I didn’t know what to expect when I walked in the door and the experience has changed my life in more ways than one. First, I gained relief from my constant pain, but I also found a career after Bryan suggested that I become a licensed massage therapist. I earned my certification and joined the Carter Sport Therapy team in August 2016. I enjoy working with clients of all ages and I’m very interested in helping caregivers for those who have special challenges and illnesses. Since I have a child with special needs, I realize how important it is for caregivers to take care of themselves first so they can help others. I feel blessed to have a job where I can help people live healthy, pain-free lives and I can learn and grow as a therapist.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I had been a nurse for 4 years before I decided to go to massage school in 2015, something that had been in the back of my mind and on my heart to do long before then but it just never was the right time. It wasn’t until I started working in Labor and Delivery and seeing first hand some of the muscle and joint issues that come with pregnancy and birth, did I decide to finally start the journey to become an LMT. Afterwards, I mainly worked on fellow nurses and doctors, fully understanding the strain that our job takes on the body. I was able to use myofascial and deep tissue techniques to decrease stress and tension, while addressing chronic muscle pain and poor posture in my coworkers. Now, I also use my skills to provide that same care for women going through pregnancy and postpartum. I strongly believe that massage is an important part of preventative health care. I have benefitted in so many ways from massage and want to help other people experience their body’s full potential and a healthier life!</image:caption>

<image:caption>In 2018 I decided to go to school to become a Licensed Massage Therapist, and I had no idea which of the many avenues of massage I wanted to take. It was after I received my first myofascial release massage that I immediately fell in love. I knew that this specific type of bodywork had the potential to change lives, just as it did mine. As a rock climber, hiker, and singer I am no stranger to muscle aches and tension. I have personally experienced not just physical balance through massage, but emotional balance as well. My goal is to help others live their life free of pain and tension naturally, and to help bring a little balance in a busy, busy world!</image:caption>

<image:caption>I first came to Carter Sport Therapy in 2014 when I started CrossFit and needed help staying healthy to train. I was a gymnast for about 15 years so my body had already taken a beating and I also spent a lot of time on my feet as a registered nurse working 12 hour shifts so my body needed some TLC. I was amazed at the relief I got from Bryan’s myofascial work after dealing with some pain for years. I decided I wanted to go to Massage Therapy School so I could help others find the same relief I did. I enjoy working on all ages and walks of life to help people be able to continue doing what they love. In my spare time, I like to CrossFit and I love spending time outside with my husband, three amazing kiddos, and our dogs Gurtie and Earl.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I was blessed to have first met Traci in 1999 at my Olympic Tae Kwon Do school. She would go on to earn her black belt over the next 4 years. She was instrumental in the development and implementation of our after school program and would become the program director. She also helped in creating our summer camp. Traci would also go on to become the school manager. In 2002 she started a career in the legal field as a paralegal/office manager. Now, eighteen years later, and as luck would have it, I was able to steal her back and make her the office manager of CST. We are beyond blessed to have her as our first contact for our clients. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, her friendly attitude, heart to serve others and her vast experience has been an amazing addition to our team. She loves meeting new people and looks forward to serving you and making sure all of your needs and expectations are met. - Bryan Carter</image:caption>

      <image:title>Services - Structural Integration</image:title>
<image:caption>Structural Integration is a series of 10-12 sessions which works systematically through connective tissue in the body. Each of the sessions works to create space within your body to enable you to move more freely and return stability and support. The series is broken down into regions to ensure each area of the body is addressed (from superficial to deep), enabling your body to integrate a more permanent change. Structural Integration is particularly helpful with chronic injuries and postural issues which you have tried to relieve using other methods but have never been able to resolve.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I was undecided in life and curious as to how to fix my injuries from years of sports and manual labor. At that time, I stumbled upon Arbor School of Massage. Even though I had little knowledge about massage therapy and the various applications, I still wanted to learn so I could fix myself and help those around me. During my time at Arbor, I found a love for myofascial and clinical focused work. With that love I have continued to learn as much as I can to provide others with the relief they deserve and the mobility they need.</image:caption>
